Last January, we opened the exhibition featuring the artworks created through our project "The Art Within Me" at the El Gato Tulipán art gallery in Barranco.
This initiative began in 2016 with workshops in woodcut printmaking (xylography) and canvas painting, providing participants with opportunities to develop both artistic and interpersonal skills. A key component of the project is to encourage interaction and dialogue among people from different backgrounds in order to promote a society free from stigma, while also using art as a tool for participants to reconnect with and better understand themselves.
“The goal of this project is to create a space for artistic expression while fostering the empowerment of the participating artists—a goal we have achieved thanks to the support of our teachers and partner organizations. This is our commitment to building a society where there are no differences and where mental health is a priority,” said Gemma Canepa, Co-founder and Director of Sociocultural Management and Innovation at De-mentes.
You can still find some of these artworks, which are available for purchase in order to help replicate this initiative and benefit even more people, at the El Gato Tulipán art gallery, located at Bajada de Baños 350, Barranco.
